The ACT is establishing a reputation as an incubator for world-leading cybersecurity, space and defence firms. The sector was strongly represented in today’s 2018 Chief Minister’s Export Awards, with defence and space technology business Electro Operating Systems (EOS) taking out the top honour.

“Canberra businesses are increasingly spreading their wings overseas,” Canberra Business Chamber CEO, Robyn Hendry said. “Our Territory performs well-above its weight in knowledge, technology, innovation and service exports.

“We are easily outstripping other states and territories on average annual goods and services export growth over the last five years, at 7.6 per cent.

“The ACT Chief Minister’s Export Awards let us recognise the successes local businesses have achieved.”

EOS was named ACT Exporter of the Year and will now go on to compete for Australian Exporter of the Year.
